"LEADERS ARE MANAGERS BUT, MANAGERS ARE NOT NECESSARILY LEADERS

'A leader' is a person who influences his followers to achieve a specified goal. A person with a vision and inspires his followers in such a way to become the vision real. He helps them in making the strategy to achieve the goal and with the other qualities like - motivating the subordinates, creating teams, innovation, developing trust among the stakeholders, etc. A leader acts as a representative of the organization. He encourages the whole team to work together and supports them in accomplishing their tasks. "A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but, a molder of consensus". (Martin Luther King Jr.) According to Peter G Northouse in his Leadership Theory and Practice (2016) "Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal".

'A manager' is a person who manages the organization who is responsible for planning, organization, direction, coordination and control. He is the person who gets his work done by employees through several ways. He has the authority to hire or fire the employees. There are various types of managers present in an organization such as top level managers, functional managers, project manager, general manager and branch managers. The role of a manager depend on their nature of work.

There are unique characteristics between a Leader and a Manager. Although there are clear differences between management and leadership, most of the time, they
overlap. When managers are involved in influencing a group to meet its goals, they are involved in leadership. When leaders are involved in planning, organizing, staffing, and controlling, they are involved in management. Both processes involve influencing a group of individuals toward  reaching their targets/ goals.

Conclusion-

There are instances where an organization need managers as well as leaders. But, a good leader can take over the roll of a good manager. The organization need a good leadership to motivate his followers, set directions through effectiveness to reach goals. Without a good leadership, the organization cannot expect good outcome from employees. Therefore, 'leaders are managers but, managers are not necessarily leaders'.

  3. Leaders empower and inspire their followers. Managers only maintain command and control, many times to excess, thereby uninspiring employees. Leaders do not seek stability, they look for flexibility. Leaders set the course, inspiring their followers to solve their own problems and make their own decisions. The reasons conveyed very fine justifications. Emphasizing the disparity between leadership skills and the philosophies of management is explored in a friendly way. Also you better use correct citation on you blog and need more improvements.
